Family: Husband of Mrs Irene Jephson Jones who died in 1985, one daughter Mrs Angela Scott.
Early Life: Robert Jephson Jones was the son of a clergyman, but had a long family connection with the Indian Army. He was a regular soldier who went to Sandhurst in 1923 and was commissioned into the Duke of Wellington's Regiment in 1925. He was Adjutant of the 6th Nigerian Regiment in 1932-4 and then transferred to the RAOC in 1936.
