Unit/Occupation: Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve

Date and Place of Birth: 16th July 1916, Toronto, Canada

Family: Married 1947. 1 son, 1 daughter.

Early Life: Educated Northern Vocational School. Employed Minneapolis Honeywell Regulator Co until 1939, then joined Queen's York Rangers. Transferred in 1941 to RCNVR. Rated Petty Officer on completion of training in Halifax, Nova Scotia, then transferred to electrical inspection of ships under construction. (see Correspondence)

Date and Place of GC Action: On 13th October, 1943, Hunter Boat Works in Orillia. Ontario.

The London Gazette: Awarded as per Canada Gazette of 24 March

The Canadian Chancellery of Honours, in June 2004, sent the Canadian version of the 1977 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal to Mr Wooding. He had not received this medal 27 years earlier, although he should have done, as all living holders of the VC & GC were recipients.
